The most buzz-worthy solar industry news from the past week.
- Employment in the renewable industry not just in Australia but across the globe has set a record high according to a report from International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). The total number of people employed in renewables has now climbed to more than 10 million worldwide. Solar has experienced big cost reductions this decade because of the 2020 Renewable Energy Target (RET)
- Sungrow Power's Next Generation Crystal Inverter Series are now being shipped to Australia. The suite of residential products include single and dual maximum power point tracker (MPPT) inverters ranging from two to five kilowatts, Sungrow 4.8kW battery and 5kW hybrid inverter.
- Byron Bay Railroad Company's first solar train has received the Good Design Award Gold (Product Design category) and Good Design Award (Engineering category) in the 60th Annual Good Design Awards. The 1942-era train runs on a non-profit basis and will commence its winter trips on 1 June.
